The World Bank is ready to support the creation of an African center of excellence in renewable energies in Tataouine – Tunisia.

The World Bank (WB) is ready to support the creation of an integrated African excellence center in the field of renewable energy in Tataouine -Tunisia, as stated by representatives of the World Bank.
During a meeting held on Friday March 24th 2023, at Tunisian Prime Ministry, the Kasbah with representatives of the World Bank led by its Resident Representative in Tunisia, Alexandre Arrobio, the Head of Tunisian Government, Najla Bouden, stated that the project to create this center was presented during the eighth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD8), held in Tunis in August 2022.
Bouden continued to explain that this project is part of the energy sector strategy for 2035, and it will enable the development of skills and expertise for the benefit of Tunisia and the African continent, considering the needs for human resources in the field of renewable energy.
The World Bank representatives presented the preliminary results of an in-depth study on the fundamentals of human capital in Tunisia and a diagnosis of various aspects, according to a statement released on Friday evening by the Presidency of the Government.
The meeting focused on the valorization of human capital and the efforts of the State to support the education sector.
The Head of Government emphasized the particular importance given to human capital in the 2023-2025 plan, as a support axis for the knowledge economy and the development of Tunisia’s strategic orientations.
The World Bank delegation was composed of Andreas Blum, Director of Scientific Practices for Education at the WB, Fadila Kayos, Economic Officer of Studies in the MENA region, and Himdat Bayusuf, Education Program Officer at the World Bank in Tunisia.
